It came as a response to a report in The Washington Post the day before that said CIA Director William Burns had told the heads of Russia’s spy agencies during a recent visit to Moscow that it would be “beyond the pale” for foreign intelligence agencies to cause brain injury and other ailments to members of the United States military and their families.
Dmitry Peskov, a Kremlin spokesman, said the topic had not been raised during political talks with the CIA director or with Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to Moscow.
He said that he was unable to remark on private talks he had with members of Russia’s security forces.
“At this point, we can only categorically refute any indications, suggestions, or assertions about the alleged participation of the Russian side in these incidents,” Peskov said. This isn’t anything that we have anything to do with.”
