The United States registers the first fatality suspected to be attributable to the Omicron strain

A fatality linked to the omicron COVID-19 variation was reported on Monday by health authorities in Texas, who said it was their first such death. According to the Harris County health department in Texas, the dead was an unvaccinated male who died of omicron, which is considered to be the first known reported omicron death in the United States.

According to ABC News, the death is considered to be the first known documented Omicron death in the United States of America. Upon requesting comment on the matter, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the United States did not immediately react to the request. The victim, who was between the ages of 50 and 60, was at increased risk of serious consequences from COVID-19 since he had not had a vaccination, according to a statement from the health department.

According to a tweet from county judge Lina Hidalgo, the guy was the first local mortality caused by the variation. Get vaccinated and boosted, as soon as possible,” Hidalgo said.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Omicron form of the coronavirus is responsible for 73 percent of coronavirus infections in the United States during the week ending December 18. Earlier in December, the United Kingdom announced the first publicly verified death from Omicron in the world. Twelve people have died in the United Kingdom as a result of the variation, and 104 more are now in hospital as a result of it.
