Rafael Nadal ‘very happy’ for Roger Federer’s comeback at Laver Cup

Roger Federer has not competed in a match of competitive tennis in more than a year, and Rafael Nadal, along with the rest of the tennis world, is counting down the days until the Swiss great makes his comeback the next month.

After undergoing one more procedure on his knee, which has been causing the 41-year-old Federer, who is in the twilight of his brilliant career, a great deal of discomfort, he has not competed since Wimbledon of the previous year.

The 20-time winner of the Grand Slam singles title is expected to make his comeback to the tour in September. He will team up with long-time rival and good friend Rafael Nadal to compete in doubles at the Laver Cup in London, and then he will compete at the Swiss indoors event at home in Basel the following month.

On Friday, before to the beginning of the U.S. Open Tennis Championships, Rafael Nadal, the winner of a record 22 Grand Slam championships, told reporters that he was “of course, really eager to see Roger again on court.”

I really hope that he is in good enough health to pull it out. Okay, then, let’s find out. It’s been a significant amount of time since I’ve seen Roger play, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that he’ll be able to go back out there soon. But let’s see.”

Since his loss in the quarterfinals of the 2021 Wimbledon against Hubert Hurkacz, Roger Federer has not competed in a match that requires him to play at a high level due to the fact that he has had three knee surgeries in the last two years.

However, despite the fact that he has not competed in over 14 months, the Swiss player has maintained his position at the top of the list of the world’s best paid tennis players for the seventeenth year in a row, demonstrating his prominence in the sport.

Pundits and fans alike are left wondering how much longer it will be until the father of four hangs up his tennis rackets as a result of the recent knee problems Federer has been experiencing.

“At this point in his career, wouldn’t you say that his health and happiness are the most essential things?” It was mentioned by Nadal.

It would be incredible if he could return to the professional tennis circuit in good condition and with a positive attitude. In such case, all we can do is express our gratitude to him for all that he has accomplished.
