The number of people who have died as a result of monsoon floods in Pakistan has reached 1,061

According to numbers that were provided yesterday by Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority, the number of people who have lost their lives as a result of monsoon floods in Pakistan since June has reached 1,061.

It was reported that 28 people had passed away in the preceding twenty-four hours, but officials were still attempting to access cut-off settlements in the rugged north.

Across the Indian subcontinent, the yearly monsoon is necessary for irrigating crops and refilling lakes and dams, but it also delivers a wave of damage every year.

More than 33 million people, or one in seven Pakistanis, have been impacted by the monsoon floods that occurred this year, and approximately one million houses have been destroyed or severely damaged as a result.

According to the NDMA, more than two million acres of crops that were being grown have been wiped off, 3,457 kilometres (approximately 2,200 miles) of roads have been devastated, and 157 bridges have been swept away.
