Matteo Berrettini serves as an inspiration for Italy to achieve a significant win in the United Cup

On Tuesday, Matteo Berrettini defeated Casper Ruud to help Italy win their United Cup match against Norway and advance to the next round of the first mixed team event. In the next round, Italy will play Poland for a chance to advance to the semi-finals of the competition.

In a replay of their meeting from the U.S. Open quarter-final and the final of Gstaad, which Ruud won last year as the world number three, Berrettini emerged victorious in Group E with a 6-4, 6-4 victory on the strength of his strong serve. The match was played between Berrettini and Ruud.

“Casper, he is a really reliable player, and he made a great deal of progress over the last year. Berrettini, who scored 10 aces and won 88% of points on his first serve, remarked, “I knew I had to serve my best.” Berrettini also won 88% of points on his first serve.

“We are familiar with one another, and as a result, we are always analysing our work; I was aware that I needed to serve in such a capacity. It’s one thing to have the knowledge, and it’s another thing entirely to put that knowledge into practise, but I’m extremely delighted everything turned out so nicely.

Berrettini’s victory against the runner-up at both the French Open and the U.S. Open gave Italy an insurmountable 3-0 lead, and they went on to sweep the tie by winning their remaining matches thanks to victories by Lucia Bronzetti, Camila Rosatello, and Lorenzo Musetti.

On Wednesday, the champions of the two groups in each of the three locations (Sydney, Perth, and Brisbane) will battle against one another in the “city finals” to decide who will go to the semifinal round.

The participant who finishes in second place in the tournament that is worth $15 million and has the best record from all three of their matches will advance to the semi-finals.

The United States completed a 5-0 victory over Germany as Jessica Pegula and Frances Tiafoe won their singles matches before teaming up for more success in mixed doubles. This set up a meeting between Britain and the United States, who won Group C. Britain won both of their Group D matches to set up this matchup.

Magda Linette’s comeback victory against Jil Teichmann of Switzerland, 5-7, 6-4, 6-1, gave Poland a 3-1 lead, which ensured a tie for first place in Group B and a meeting with Italy later in the round. This victory also set up Poland’s clash with Italy.

The 10th-ranked player in the world, Hubert Hurkacz, won the match for Poland earlier by defeating the seasoned Swiss player Stan Wawrinka 7-6(5), 6-4.

Maria Sakkari defeated Elise Mertens of Belgium 6-1, 7-5, and clinched a position for Greece in the final of the Perth competition, which was held in Australia.

After Stefanos Sakellaridis won his singles match against Zizou Bergs, the Greeks finished off the match with a 4-1 victory by winning the mixed doubles match that Sakkari and Stefanos Tsitsipas competed in.

They will now face Croatia, who are currently leading France 3-1 after Borna Gojo came back from being down 5-3 in the third set to defeat Adrian Mannarino 7-6(5) 3-6 7-6(5) in an incredible match that lasted over three hours.
