Fifth Avenue is home to some of the most famous legacy companies in the fashion industry, and we are looking forward to seeing the next generation of designers walk the catwalk at 608 Fifth in September. The Council of Fashion Designers and IMG, who are collaborating to arrange New York Fashion Week this season, are expecting a seamless transition back to live presentations – provided that no one contracts the Delta form of the virus.
Following a largely virtual season last year, this year’s New York Fashion Week will feature a mix of in-person and internet presentations. The official calendar also indicates whether or not a particular show is included in the American Collections Calendar, which is a list of American Designers around whom the broader Fashion Week programme is built.
In addition to a varied roster of ninety-one designers, including Sergio Hudson, Gabriela Hearst, and LaQuan Smith, it was essential to the Council of Fashion Designers of America and IMG to have a representative from the best of American design talent on the runway. Working in collaboration with IMG has allowed us to offer a unique Official New York Fashion Week Schedule of shows and presentations inside the American Collections Calendar,” says CFDA CEO Steven Kolb in a statement released by the organisation on Tuesday.
Thom Browne will be one of the highlights, while Carolina Herrera and Rachel Comey will be showcasing their anniversary collections. In addition, renowned design companies such as Moschino by Jeremy Scott and Peter Dundas of Dundas will be showcasing their latest collections. Leslie Russo said that the 11 designers that are a part of IMG’s Fashion Alliance (Telfar, Rodarte, Proenza Schouler, Altuzarra, Brandon Maxwell, Prabal Gurung, Sergio Hudson, Monse, Jason Wu, LaQuan Smith, and Markarian) would be exhibiting at Spring and other locations around the city. There are a number of resources being provided by IMG, ranging from financial assistance to venue and back-of-house support.
