After 13 Years Together, Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen Have Decided to Divorce

Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen dissolved their more than 13-year marriage on Friday, after years of fascination from fans and tabloids and more recent conjecture about Brady’s extended playing career and its impact on their relationship.

Brady said in his tweet that he and Bündchen had completed their divorce.

Brady said, “We came to this choice peacefully and with appreciation for the time we spent together.” “After considerable deliberation, we came to the conclusion to dissolve our marriage. Obviously, doing so is terrible and challenging, just as it is for countless individuals throughout the globe who experience the same thing every day. However, we wish each other nothing but the best as we embark on the subsequent chapters of our lives.”

In an Instagram post, Bündchen said that she and Brady would continue to co-parent their children “in order to provide them with the love, care, and attention they so richly deserve.”

Brady, 45, has played professional football for almost two decades, and his club, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has struggled to start the current season in part due to a deterioration in his performance. The Buccaneers fell to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night, dropping their record to 3-5 and giving Brady his first three-game losing skid since 2002.

42-year-old Bündchen has expressed openly her desire for him to retire and spend more time with their family. After retiring after the 2018 season, Brady changed his decision and decided to return to the Buccaneers, the club he led to the Super Bowl in 2020.

Friday, Bündchen filed for divorce in Glades County, Florida. This week, Bündchen and Brady struck a marriage settlement deal that includes a parenting arrangement, according to court documents. The agreement’s provisions were submitted with the court under strict confidence.

This week, both Brady and Bündchen finished the four-hour parent education and family stability courses mandated in Florida for divorcing couples with minor children.

Bündchen and Brady have two children, a 12-year-old boy named Benjamin and a 9-year-old daughter named Vivian. Jack, 15, is Brady’s kid from a prior relationship with actress Bridget Moynahan.

Friday, a court granted Brady’s divorce after he did not oppose it, surrendered his right to a trial and any waiting periods required by law, and did not request a trial.

Chris Melcher, a partner at Walzer Melcher & Yoda and a divorce attorney, said that “the couple demonstrated outstanding behaviour by resolving swiftly and amicably.”

“It was crucial for Tom and Gisele to settle in order to protect their reputations from a nasty divorce,” Melcher added. It would have been a diversion that may have been detrimental to their reputations.

Since their first meeting, Brady, a great quarterback, and Bündchen, a supermodel, have been a relationship in the public spotlight. By the time they met, Brady had already won three Super Bowls with the New England Patriots, and Bündchen was one of the world’s most renowned individuals, a regular on magazine covers, and a leading figure in the fashion business. In 2016, she was reputedly the highest-paid and wealthiest model in the world.

At their time together, Brady won four more championships, including one with the Buccaneers; Bündchen was often seen cheering him on at games and during award ceremonies.

After dating for the first time in 2006 and meeting via a mutual acquaintance, Brady and Bündchen wed in 2009.

“As soon as I saw him, he smiled, and I said to myself, ‘That is the most beautiful and fascinating grin I have ever seen!'” In 2009, Bündchen told Vanity Fair. “We conversed for three hours. I had to return home for the holidays, but I didn’t want to. You know that sensation of wanting more and more? Since the first day we met, we have never gone a day without communicating.”

Two ceremonies were held, one in a Catholic church in Santa Monica, California, and the other with friends in Costa Rica.

In “Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life,” Bündchen remarked, “Sometimes I tell people my spouse and I love each other so much that we were married twice.”

In February, Brady declared his retirement from the NFL after 22 seasons, but in March he stated he will return for another season. Since then, there have been several rumours that Brady and Bündchen had a dispute about his desire to return to football. This has also raised doubts about whether Brady’s performance on the field has been hampered by his marital difficulties.

Prior to the start of the season, Brady missed many sessions and two preseason games. In August, Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles informed reporters that quarterback Tom Brady had been excused for “personal reasons.”

Bowles told reporters on Friday that he did not know how Brady’s divorce affected his career.

Bowles said, “He performs his job when he’s out here and he grins a lot, and that’s basically all you can tell.” “I believe everyone, regardless of career, goes through adversity; what matters is how you manage it and overcome it. I’m sure he has something on his mind when he leaves work and everything — how much, I don’t know; that’s a question for him.”
